Marion Franklin Rudy, often known as Frank Rudy, is the engineer who invented Nike’s Air technology, which permanently altered the footwear industry. Nike produced the Air Tailwind, the first shoe to use Rudy’s “Air” technology, in 1978. He was able to patent the technology that was advancing the “Revolution” in 1980.
Nike will release a special edition Air VaporMax 2021 to honour the late engineer. The uppers of the shoe are white crocheted with yellow contrasting embellishments. It has distinctive touches including blueprint insoles with his signature, his famous California “Nike Air” licence plate hangtags, EST. 2021 inscribed on the lateral Air unit, and his name printed on the laces tips. The design is completed with a VaporMax sole unit with Grind Rubber below.
