Russell Westbrook debuted his next signature shoe, the Jordan “Why Not?”.5, against the Brooklyn Nets on Christmas Day.
The lead colorway, dubbed “Inner City,” was created in collaboration with Honor the Gift, Westbrook’s fashion label. It honours his Los Angeles roots and the power of self-belief in achieving one’s goals. Jordan Brand omitted the “Zer0” portion of the model’s name from previous signature shoes.
The “Why Not?” was designed to resemble a trail running shoe with its rugged utility look.
The translucent upper complements Westbrook’s quick movements, while midfoot bands, an external heel counter, and webbing all work in unison to keep his foot secure. Additional design details include a large-volume Zoom Air unit in the midsole’s forefoot for energy return and a trail-inspired outsole for maximum traction.
Westbrook also designed matching apparel for this release, which includes a jacket, hoodie, t-shirt, and tearaway pants.
