We examine two popular Nike SB Dunk Low hues for the scary holiday of Halloween.
The Nike SB Dunk Low “Freddy Krueger” launched in 2007, paying homage to the antagonist from the Nightmare on Elm Street film series. It includes elements from Freddy’s characteristic striped sweater and blades that extend from his leather gloves. In addition, the leather overlays of the shoe are stained with blood.
The sneakers were never officially released because the authors of the “Nightmare on Elm Street” series sent Nike a stop and desist order. Approximately thirty pairs of “Freddy Krueger” Dunks are said to exist.
The Nike SB Dunk Low “Mummy” is a Halloween 2021 release inspired by monsters. It has an Off-White canvas top with frayed edges that can be peeled away to reveal a bluish-gray suede beneath. In addition, there is an embroidered spider on the toe box and a depiction of the ancient Egyptian Eye of Horus on the internal tongue. The design is complete with a glow-in-the-dark outsole and embroidered eyeballs on the rear heel.
